Still A Thing.

Crazy Party Beta 82 Review
Are we still doing this? I guess we are. One day this game will come out of beta. One day.
Introduction
Honestly, this is mostly just an excuse to post something new on the blog. I’ve been out of touch for a while, so while we’re building up towards the singing competition, I thought, why not throw out a few articles?
I’ll mostly talk about the new mini-games, because who cares about the rest? But I will briefly mention the other updates as well.
Let’s go!
What’s New
We get 3 new micro-games, 23 new mini-games, a new world, battle cards, and a bunch of bug fixes.
Let’s rapid-fire through some of this and get to the mini-games.
Battle
I don’t do battle much, so I can’t honestly speak to how the new cards or bug fixes on old cards affect things. But they’re there, so if you do battle, you have something to unlock and a reason to play.
The battle quest was updated. Now, I’ll be honest—I didn’t even know this had been updated at all.
I tried it briefly. It was interesting. You do a battle, and if you win, you progress. Between each battle, you get to pick between things like refilling your health, increasing your max health, and getting bonus levels in the class you picked. Actually, kind of interesting.
I can’t really offer much more on the battle elements. I don’t play it much, and I doubt that’s going to change anytime soon.
Micro Games
Honestly, not much I can say about these either. Not because I didn’t play them, but because they are exactly what you’d expect.
We only get 3 new ones, but they work just fine. I still prefer mini-games, so let’s jump into those.
Boards
Are you reading this and shocked that they actually updated the board mode? Well, take it down a notch—they didn’t update the boards. I just wanted to remind you all that mode exists.
Mini Games
For me, and I think for a lot of people who play Crazy Party, this is why we used to play. This is why, when new versions come out, we go back: to check out the new mini-games.
This update actually includes 3 new ones, one in the forest and 2 elsewhere, as well as a whole new world with 20 games in it.
We’re going to run through all the new games quickly, then I’ll give my final thoughts on all of this.
287. Plenty of Chests!
You have numbered chests, and you have to do math to figure out which ones to open. Honestly, this is the perfect mix of stress and math that absolutely no one enjoys.
It’s not going on any favorites list of mine anytime soon, but it’s not the worst new game.
288. Take the Jewels in Your Knapsack
Hey, look, more math. This time, you have to balance the weight of the bonuses versus how many points they’re worth. Your sack can only hold so much, so you have to get the most bang for your buck.
Better, but still not a great game.
289. The Mine Train
This is basically, What if we made Tube Sim into a Crazy Party mini-game? Drive a train the same way you do in Desert Express, but this time, instead of red lights that kill you, it’s stations you have to stop at to pick up cargo.
Not a bad little mini-game, and if we’re recycling old concepts, I don’t hate this one.
291. Freight Train
Sometimes Crazy Party games are honestly really hard, and this one is a good example of a really challenging game. Lots of obstacles and a side-scroller while the perspective is moving.
I like this one, and no, it’s not just because it’s a train game. Okay, maybe a little.
290. Murder in a Hotel
This is possibly the most unique thing in the new mini-games. Run around a hotel finding clues; the clues point to a murderer.
I actually like this little game. Something somewhat refreshing.
292. Forest Chase
You know all the other Crazy Party games that involve you running and jumping over things? This is those again. Different obstacles, but literally nothing new.
I don’t hate it, but it isn’t special.
293. Reproduce the Rhythm
I think we might need to have a little chat about the concept of rhythm, because while you do have to reproduce the sound, this sounds more like a timid child has been given a basic drum set, and they don’t want to upset the neighbors.
Interesting, if a little frustrating at first. Pretty mid, honestly.
294. Soap Dream
So, apart from having the worst name of any of the new mini-games, this isn’t too bad. Run north, avoiding the soap bubbles. You also can’t fall off either side, or you get dragged back to the start.
Not a bad game.
How did we miss calling this “Wet Dream”? Okay, I’m done.
295. The Dream Road
Remember that child who had the drum set? He’s taken it and scattered it along a path, and you must now walk along said path, tapping each drum. Why? Don’t worry about it.
Literally just spam the left and right arrows, and you’ll get this. No challenge, very boring, entirely pointless.
296. The Witch’s Eggs
In the Heights world, there’s a game in which you shoot a bunch of ships attacking Earth… In a now ironic turn of events, that game has been reversed. You’re the attacking ship, and they’re trying to shoot you down.
Okay, so you’re not in a spaceship, and the person shooting you is a witch whose eggs you stole. But conceptually, I’m 100% right.
Nothing new, but actually can be a bit of a challenge. I don’t mind this, honestly.
297. Glutton’s Dream
Cakes are flying at you, and you have to catch them and stuff them in your big fat face. In a horrific twist, if you eat too many, you get fat and die.
Another game I don’t mind.
298. Bonuses at the Edge of Awakening
Simple and short: grab the bonuses, and the clock if you want a little more time.
Not super hard, fun, and fast. Just like sex. Wait…
299. Dream Crossing
It’s the Rainbow Tower from a previous world. However, the tower has disappeared in this version.
Okay, so in this one, you’re constantly moving. You don’t have to enter the games, but it’s a similar concept.
300. Recount the Sheep
It’s like counting sheep. The difference is, the sheep are imaginary, and we’re thinking about them instead of them being real and in a field.
Can anyone check if Pragma is from Wales or New Zealand?
301. Illuminate the Tables
You have lamps, and you must go around placing them on tables. They provide light to the table and nearby tables. In doing so, the game rewards you with sexual favors. Or points. Probably just points.
Easy enough. Nothing too special, but somewhat new.
302. Inflate the Mattresses
The worst of the new games. You have to inflate mattresses, and oh, they explode if you overfill them, and you lose all your points. Not a fan.
Can we just stop for a second? This game claims that if you overfill an inflatable mattress, it will explode and kill you. What the actual fuck?
303. Forced Awakening
This is Bop It. Left, right, and down arrows—hit the one where you hear the alarm sound.
The game about waking up puts me to sleep.
304. Nocturnal Alchemy
You mix powders to see their reactions until you find a good reaction, at which point you spam them. It’s basically doing drugs, but much less fun because you don’t get high.
This game is weird.
305. Lunar Seeds
You have to run around and find open space to plant your flowers so they will grow the best possible.
You’re planting flowers… in the moonlight.
This one can be tricky to get the hang of, but it’s fine, honestly.
306. Lunar Ghosts
We have ghosts, and those ghosts are good or bad depending on which color moon is out. If it’s a good ghost, you run up and hug them. If they’re evil, you run away, because if you hug them, you die.
Somehow my description is 100% accurate, and I hate that.
307. Bonus Among Dreams
Pick up bonuses in different micro-games.
Simple, nothing more to say.
308. Dense Forest
It’s a forest, and for some reason, we are fat-shaming it. You run in the forest, avoid the ants, and you can go up the teleporters to get to the top of the trees, where you’ll find wasps.
Nothing new, but the teleporter trees are weird though.
309. Lunar Fruits
You run around in the trees and grab fruit. The fruits are worth different amounts of points.
Simple, but not too bad.
How It Stacks Up
Honestly, as updates go, this wasn’t too bad.
I spoke above about how I just don’t really care about battle. It was never my favorite mode, but I do know some people like it. When you look at my decks, many of them haven’t been updated since Beta 63, so they’re outdated, and I have no desire to fix that. However, if you like battle, you’ve got cards to collect and some bug fixes, and honestly, what more do you want?
Micro-games are fun. They’re quick and something to do if you’re playing Crazy Party and want to break up rounds of mini-games. Having a few new ones is never a bad thing.
The mini-games are the main reason I come back to this game when they put out new versions. I actually didn’t mind this update for that reason. I also know that part of the reason coming back works in Crazy Party’s favor is that I really don’t mind the recycled game ideas. With 310 mini-games, of course, things are going to feel like older games. But when you don’t play for 8 months, then come back and try the new games, it’s a lot of fun.
Over All
Not a bad new version. I would recommend it if you used to play and want something to do for a little bit.
Conclusion
Play some Crazy Party, or don’t, you wasted your time on this article now anyway, so my job is done.
